Installation

Installation is easy! Download the current recommended release. It is just one zip file. Open the zip file and click on the setup.exe program. The installation program will then start. If a previous version is already installed, choose to 'repair' the installation to update the previously installed version to the current one.

Usage

The File Browser for SalesForce program lets you view the attachments that are stored in SalesForce. You must have an account with SalesForce with the appropriate permissions to view the files stored there. Currently the program only functions with the Enterprise Edition of SalesForce, due to the greater level of API access it offers. At present the program does not work with the Professional Edition of SalesForce.

Logging In

Enter your SalesForce username, token value and password into the login screen and click Login. If you do not have a token value, you must request one through SalesForce. https://trust.salesforce.com/trust/security/identity_feature.html

If you do not want to re-enter your username and token value every time you use the program, they may be saved by accessing the File|Options menu item and entering them on the Account tab. The password is not saved and must be re-entered every time you use the program.

Whenever a file is opened or printed a copy is downloaded from SalesForce and stored on the local computer. By default the files are copied to an application data directory for each user. If you want to store copies in a particular folder put the directory name in the cache directory field.

The Display tab controls what is displayed in the main window. The File List Display Type specifies the size or type of icon that is displayed for each attachment file. This options tab also controls which types of SalesForce objects appear. A check next to the SalesForce object type indicates that the type should be displayed. For exmaple: if you do not want to see any attachments stored under Campaigns then uncheck the checkbox next to Campaigns.
